    In the first part of the training, fundamental didactic concepts important for the work of tutors will be presented. The lecturer will place particular emphasis on practical guidelines for planning and conducting tutoring sessions, managing student groups, and similar activities. In this way, tutors will acquire concrete tools and knowledge to provide more effective support to students. The second part of the training will focus on how tutors can communicate effectively, co-create a supportive relationship with students, and develop skills for resolving conflict situations.
    Completion of the training is a prerequisite for performing tutoring activities.
    IMPORTANT: This     workshop is exclusively for tutors who are international students enrolled in English-taught study programmes. This session is also open to other international students. Participation in the entire training module is awarded with 0.25 ECTS credits for students of the University of Maribor.

Upon completion of the training, tutors will be able to:
  • Acquire a basic understanding of fundamental didactic concepts essential for providing high-quality tutoring support.
  • Plan and conduct structured tutoring sessions tailored to the goals and needs of students.
  • Apply fundamental approaches to managing student groups, with an emphasis on creating a stimulating and collaborative learning environment.
  • Gain basic knowledge of effective communication, including clear expression and active listening.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of how to establish relationships with students.
  • Practice conflict resolution skills through practical examples.

Full Professor Dr. Marija Javornik is employed at the Department of Pedagogy, Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor, where she teaches courses in the field of didactics. Her research focuses on the professional development of educators, various pedagogical approaches, counseling competencies, and the social aspects of education. Her work has a distinctly empirical character and is strongly oriented towards applied issues in educational practice.

Full Professor Dr. Katja Košir is employed at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor. She lectures to future teachers, psychologists, and (inclusive) pedagogues, and also participates as a lecturer in the pedagogical-andragogical training program for teachers. Her research work is particularly focused on psychosocial factors in education. She is the recipient of the University of Maribor Award for Teaching Excellence for the academic year 2023/24.

  • For the entry of training attendance into the Diploma Supplement, the student must personally submit the certificate of attendance to the faculty administration office and request the entry. We recommend that students carry out this process on an ongoing basis.
  • The training will be delivered asynchronously online, in the Moodle e-learning environment (Arnes Učilnice), with participants completing the activities independently.
  • After successfully registering for the event, you will receive a confirmation email and, separately, an automatic reminder two days beforehand from izpopolni@um.si, which will include a web link to the Moodle learning unit.
  • You can access the workshop by self-enrolling in the learning unit via the link you receive upon registration. Self-enrolment will be enabled on the start date of the training.
